Here are the official details of the controversial new Jeep Cherokee. Jeep has unveiled the off-roader at the ongoing New York Auto Show and the good part of the news is that, it is the C-SUV that Jeep talked about for India!
Ever since the first shots of Cherokee broke out in the open people have been of two opinions. I agree that it is love it or hate it design but if you ask me, I personally love it from what I can make through the pictures. It is different and it looks fantastic.
Jeep Cherokee is offered with an option of two engines. A 2.4L 4 cylinder TigerShark petrol motor which produces 185PS of power and 232Nm of torue and uses Fiat’s MultiAir technology. The bigger option is the 3.2L V6 Pentastar petrol which produces a beefy 271hp of power and 325Nm of torque.
Interestingly, Jeep Cherokee comes with a segment first 9-speed Automatic transmission along with choices of three different 4×4 systems. Cherokee is offered in as many as 8 color options along with 4 trims – Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk and Limited. Then it also comes with a plethora of features and gizmos which are international-spec. How would they be trimmed/retained for India remains to be seen.
According to the product roadmap shared by Jeep in India, the C segment SUV will be powered by 1.4L Turbocharged petrol as well as 1.6L MultiJet diesel engine. (All Details Here). Anyways, it still is sometime away but the Cherokee looks splendidly cool with a typical ‘JEEP’ tryst to it!
