OFFICIAL: GM Confirms Launch of Trailblazer SUV & Spin MPV in India

General Motors in an official communication has confirmed that the company will be launching the Traiblazer SUV in India this year, which will be followed by the Spin MPV in 2016. This news comes a few days after the Spin was spotted testing in India.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

As per the official statement, Chevrolet dealers have already been informed about this development during their annual meeting which took place in Bangkok on February 13. This is would be a major development for the company as they have been rather silent for quite some time now.

Further, the management intends to increase their 2015 exports tally to 19,000 units to nearly 40 countries. Most of the export units though, will be headed to Mexico and Chile. As compared to the exports figures of 2014, a jump from 984 units to 19,000 will go down a long way to increase the utilization of its assembly lines.

The Trailblazer SUV might come in as a replacement for the Captiva which has not really been successful in captivating the hearts of SUV lovers out here. Its price was one of the major deterrent since Chevrolet sold it here as a CBU (completely built unit) inferring huge excise duties. Internationally though, the Trailblazer is positioned slightly higher than the Captiva. We hope Chevrolet launches the Trailblazer at least as a CKD (completely knocked down units) to ensure it is more competitive in the market.

Chevrolet Spin

 

The Spin is one interesting MPV sold by the bow tie brand and is 4.8 m long, which puts it bigger than even the Toyota Innova. Expect the Spin to be loaded with features to take up the fight against established market which its key opposition already has. But some nice developments these are….
