Land Rover in an official communication has informed that they will be launching the new Land Rover Discovery Sport on September 2, 2015. The SUV will be brought to India via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route and will be assembled here which will help them keep prices competitive.
Land Rover also announced that they have started accepting bookings for the same at their showrooms across India. The company calls the Discover Sport one of the most versatile SUVs in the segment and hopes to take on the likes of BMW X3 and Volvo XC 60.
The features list can be expected to be interesting and and will include Terrain Response and Park Assist. The Discovery sport will be the first premium mid-range SUV to have a 5+2 seating arrangement thanks to its large length and wheelbase.
Engine options are expected to be the same 2.2 litre SD4 diesel mill in two different tunes of 147 bhp and 187 bhp. Transmission option includes just one 9 speed automatic unit. However we also expect the company to add their new 2.0 litre engine from their Ingenium family in due course of time.
