Back in October 2014, we shared with you the first ever spyshots of Scorpio Automatic doing test rounds with actual decals and logos. And here it is, launched in the market!
Mahindra Scorpio Automatic comes with a first in class 6-speed Automatic gearbox and is available in both 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive formats at a starting price tag of RS 13.13 Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi.
Available only in the range topping S10 variant for now, the 2.2 liter mHawk diesel engine continues to churn out the same 120 bhp of maximum power at 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm of peak torque in the range of 1,800 to 2,800 rpm. Scorpio Automatic is the only SUV in its class to sport an automatic transmission with a four-wheel drive system (Back in 2008, Mahindra Scorpio was the only Indian SUV in the country to offer an automatic transmission).

- Scorpio S10 Automatic 2WD: Rs 13.13 Lakhs
- Scorpio S10 Automatic 4WD: Rs 14.33 Lakhs
In comparison, the recently launched Creta automatic (available only in 2WD) costs Rs 13,57,770. That is half a segment smaller yet Rs 44,069 costlier than the 7-seater SUV!

Since it is the range topping variant the Automatic version continues with flagship features like – Static bending projector headlamps, LED eyebrows, 6 inch touchscreen infotainment system, FATC, dual front airbags, 17 inch alloy wheels, Shift-on-Fly 4WD, rain and light sensors etc…
Mahindra is also testing the XUV500 with an Aisin-sourced 6-Speed Automatic transmission and the crossover is expected to be launched sometime this year.
