OFFICIAL: New Alto K10 (AMT) Launch on November 3!

The new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is finally and officially launching on November 3, 2014. There have been many speculations on the exact launch date of the new Alto but the launch invitation of the car which greeted us this morning quashes all rumors.

We showed you the first ever spy shots of the car way back in April, and it has been spotted a number of times since then. The company has seen a drop in sales of the Alto, and they have realized that a normal cosmetic update won’t be able to pull the Alto brand to the levels it is generally associated with.

This is why they decided to add something extra apart from the looks – the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) which is such a big hit on the Celerio. This added benefit of comfort thanks to the AMT gearbox would definitely be a boon in crowded city traffic where the Alto is meant to manoeuvre on a day to day basis. Unlike a conventional automatic, the AMT (which is eventually an automated manual) will bring this comfort without a drop in fuel efficiency.

The powertrain is going to be the same 998 cc three pot mill, but considerable amount of work has been done on increasing its fuel efficiency figures… in fact it will be even higher than Celerio’s 23.1 kmpl. As we broke this a while back, new Alto K10 will return certified fuel efficiency figures of 24+ kmpl.

The new Alto K10 gets the body of the Alto 800 but with a much better and presentable face. It sports a new front grille decked up in chrome, re-styled head lamps and tail lamps, re-designed bumpers and a few subtle changes in the interiors with new upholstery and touches to the dash. More on this when Maruti launches the car on Monday. Keep tuned…
