We were the first ones to reveal a comprehensive inside out scoop of Premier Rio 1.3 MultiJet. We also shared with you a few days back that Premier has launched special micro-site for Rio hinting that the preparations of the launch are in full swing.
And here comes the official specs of Premier Rio 1.3 MultiJet on the site. Since this engine is generally used in two tunes in India – 75PS/190Nm and 90PS/200Nm, it was uncertain which tune would Premier use on the Rio.
However, it goes clear that the new BS4 compliant Rio 1.3 would come in the lower tune producing 72PS of peak power at 4000 rpm and 183Nm of max torque between 1800-2400 rpm. The engine would be mated to a 5-speed transmission and has a fixed geometry turbocharger with intercooler. The dimensions and other specs remain identical to the current model.

There is no word about the fuel efficiency figures of the car, nor have they talked about its pricing. In our catch, we were informed that the test mules are returning very healthy fuel efficiency figures and we would not be surprised if this Compact SUV is certified at 20kmpl! Regarding price, we were told that there would be an approximate 70,000 increase on the existing Rio. With this engine, Premier can sell Rio in BS4 cities as well which was not possible with its earlier diesel engine since it was only BS3 certified.
