Official: Toyota Confirms Launch of 10-Seater Hiace In India This Year

If you remember, Toyota showcased a minibus-like vehicle called as Hiace at the Auto Expo in Delhi in February 2014. They have yet again showcased it at the ongoing Bus and Special Vehicle Show in Greater Noida and have officially confirmed its Indian launch as well.

The company is terming Hiace as the first luxury commuter vehicle in India and have promised a launch in early second half of 2015 which means they are targeting something around July-August time frame.

What is Toyota Hiace?

Hiace is a inter and intra city travel vehicle with a seating capacity of 10 passengers (including the driver). The seats are arranged in the configuration of 4 rows along with additional luggage space.

Hiace comes equipped with Toyota’s 2982 cc Euro IV D-4D diesel engine capable of producing 136PS of peak power at 3400 rpm and 300Nm of maximum torque between 1200 to 2400 rpm. It is available only with the option of a 4-speed Automatic Transmission.

In terms of features it gets Power slide doors, manual air conditioner with multiple air conditioning vents, power steering, power windows, rear camera etc. In terms of safety Hiace comes with  ABS, Dual airbags, crumple zones etc.

Hiace is sold in more than 140 countries worldwide and will be an interesting offering for our market.

  1. pls get ur facts right.. This grand hiace Commuter isn’t india’s first luxury commuter vehicle.. It’s the Mercedes Benz MB 140 and the MB 100 vans…they were launched way back in the 90s..

    • i am not sure of this but…i dont think MB 140 & MB 100 vans were officially launched, they must have been import models in India.
