Polo Based Sub 4 Meter Compact Sedan Spied for the First Time

No matter what you may think about it, but the Lets-go-compact bug has bitten the Germans as well. It is already understood that Volkswagen, which is known to produce some very sober and fantastic looking cars, is working on a sub 4 meter Vento compact sedan and as the latest update, the car is on the roads testing and has been snapped for the first time by the guys at MotorOctane.

Rather than a grounds-up product, Volkswagen is going the easier way and forming a compact sedan out of their existing products. This could be considered either as a smaller Vento or an elongated Polo with a boot!

Based on the same old PQ25 platform, Volkswagen has two petrol engine options for this car. If they want to do a half hearted job, they will plonk the 1.2 liter MPI engine and if they want to offer a zesty car, they have the option of the 1.2 liter turbocharged TSI motor. For the diesel, there is no doubt that it will be the new 1.5 TDI diesel engine which does duty on the Polo as well as Vento.

Going by the test mule here, along with the rear, the front may also get a minor redesign to distinguish from the current siblings.

Volkswagen is not generally known to produce country-specific cars and this car will become the first sub 4 meter German compact sedan in India. Launch is expected sometime next year and an Auto Expo 2016 unveiling may just be on the cards!
