With the oncoming of newer competition Mitsubishi is preparing its ace SUV Pajero Sport for a stiff fightback.
And in the process, the butch SUV has become cheaper by as much as Rs 1.87 Lac. That means you can buy the Pajero Sport at a Delhi ex-showroom price of Rs 22.56 Lac which was Rs 24.43 Lac earlier.
The reason for this reduction is the start of localization for Pajero Sport. Mitsubishi has announced that they have initiated manufacture of the premium SUV from CKD kits at its Tiruvallur plant. For now the basic components like tyres, battery, window glasses, seat belts, lamps, wipers, alloy wheels have been localized and the current content is attributed to 14 percent which Mitsubishi plans to take to 30 percent pretty soon.
This does make it a formidable option against the immediate rival Toyota Fortuner which retails for Rs 21.15 Lac (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base 4×2 manual variant. Recently competition in the form of Mahindra’s Rexton has hit the segment with a big bang. Toyota has also launched a limited special edition of Fortuner – Fortuner TRD Sportivo for the festive season.
This price drop could not have come at a better time for Mitsubishi with the fast approaching festive season where the buying sentiments are high.
