Production Nissan Kicks – Upcoming EcoSport Rival Rendered & it Looks Impressive

Nissan’s upcoming Ecosport rival, based on the concept Kicks will be a sub 4m compact SUV for India and is expected to be present at the Auto Expo to be held in February next year. While that’s still far away, we bring to you the first renderings of the upcoming compact SUV.

The rendering from the folks at NoticiasAutomotivas, of the full sized SUV, reveal an almost identical body structure as the one seen in concept model in Sao Paulo last year. The slanting roof line and muscular wheel arches look great but may be toned down on the actual production car. The toned down front looks aggressively fantastic and we hope Nissan retails a lot of it finally…

Kicks will be based on the V platform, which is also the base of the Micra, Sunny, and several re-badged Renault cars. The best part of this platform is that it can be built with 80 per cent localisation, reducing the production costs.

Powering the Kicks in India (the production version will most probably come with a more sombre name) will be the familiar 1.5 litre K9K diesel mill from the Terrano, though it is still unclear whether the company will be offering both the 85 PS and 110 PS variants or not.

The Japanese manufacturer is also contemplating the launch of its jumbo SUV Patrol in India.
