Duster Beats EcoSport in March 2014 Sales

Yes. The Renault Duster is surely winning the most number of hearts. It has regained the position of the most loved Compact SUV, or let us just say that for the time being!

For the month of March 2014, Renault managed to ship off 4,494 units of the Duster and its sibling Nissan Terrano registered sales of 3,075 units. In stark contrast, Ford’s knight in shining armour, EcoSport sold just 3,904 units, less than Duster!

Now, the next thought that will linger around in your mind is – ‘Is EcoSport’s waiting period down and out?’! The answer is NO! It is not the lack of demand for the car but it is Ford’s misery in shipping the car for deliveries within India. Ford is directing their energies towards exports.

The Duster rolled out 46,700 units in the financial year 2013-14, in comparison to 45,000 units of the EcoSport. And with the possibility of the updated Duster coming later this year, Renault is sure to see even better days. The Duster facelift shall feature a dual-tone chrome grille, large air-dams, revised headlamps and tail lamp cluster with day time running LEDs, under body cladding, chromed exhaust pipe integrated to the rear diffuser. Also the prospect of the upcoming 4×4 version of Duster should further propel sales figures. If you do not know, the four wheel drive version is manufactured in the country, but only for exports. India is Duster’s 4th largest market in the world. However, trouncing both of these is the super-performer Scorpio with sales of 5605 units in March 2014.
