Renault India Set to Increase Prices From 1st January

Here is an unpleasant one. If you have been saving up for a new Renault and hoping to get it next year, you’d better hurry up. That for 2 reasons – one, Renault is going to increase price of all of its models, and two, buy it now and get best deal on its products including additional 2 year warranty, attractive exchange benefits, 3 years insurance and 24×7 road assistance to all customers joining the Renault family.

Justifying the increase in price Mr. Sumit Sawhney – Executive Director Sales and Marketing said that due to increasing rates and input costs Renault India will increase prices across its product range in January 2014. The price increase will be as per industry standards, he added.

Many other manufacturers have already signalled a hike in January as well. The depreciating value of INR has had a marked effect on the country’s imports and exports. At the time of writing this report, INR was 61.37 against the USD.

Actually, more than anything else manufacturers create such kind of a price increase hype to push falling sales during these last two months of November and December as people defer their buying to next year in anticipation of getting a new year model which will help them in resale. In the process, companies do offer great bargains to lure people into changing their minds.

Renault has not disclosed exactly how much price hike it has in mind, but an increase of 2% to 4% could be expected.

The company presently has in its line-up the premium sedan Fluence, the luxury SUV Koleos, the premium compact car Pulse, the SUV Duster and the mid-sized sedan Scala. Out of these, Renault has planned facelifts of Duster as well as Fluence sometime during the first half of next year.

Renault has about 100 dealer outlets across the country and altogether it has been a good year for them. Nissan, Renault’s partner in the country, is also slated to hike the prices of its vehicles starting next year.
