Official: Renault Lodgy Launching on 9th April

Renault’s first MPV Lodgy is finally going to be launched on 9th April in India and will be the first major launch by the French auto manufacturer after the highly successful Duster. With the new Lodgy the company is aiming to snatch a pie from the Ertigas and Mobilios and hopes to spread its sales which are, at the moment, only dependent on their compact SUV. Invitations have been rolled out and the launch takes place in Delhi.

Like Duster, Lodgy will be featuring the familiar 1.5 litre K9K four pot diesel mill in two different power tunes:

  • The lower powered version churns out 85 PS of maximum power at 3,750 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1,900 rpm. Mated with a 5 speed manual gearbox, this version returns a rated fuel efficiency of 21.04 kmpl.
  • The tuned up version squeezes out 110 PS of maximum power at a slightly higher 4,000 rpm and 245 Nm of torque at a lower 1,750 rpm. The 110PS Lodgy is rated at a fuel efficiency of 18.98 kmpl and gets a 6 speed manual transmission.

We have driven the Lodgy and it really appears to be a very competitive answer to the competition. There are a lot of shortcomings on both Mobilio and Ertiga and Renault has smartly plugged them on the Lodgy to offer a more complete solution to your people carrying needs. The pricing has to be spot on, however!

Renault will be offering Lodgy with the 7 seat as well as an 8 seat configuration. You can read through our detailed review to understand how the overall product is.
