Renault Preparing Lodgy MPV to Go Against Innova & Ertiga

In October last year we informed you about Renault’s plan to introduce an MPV to the Indian car market, and expected the Dacia’s (a fully owned subsidiary of Renault) Lodgy to make way.

Now, in a latest, Economic Times says that two persons close to the matter have confirmed about this development.

Code-named as J92, the Lodgy will hit the road in the first quarter of 2015 and will shed it’s cover to the public at the 2014 Auto Expo. With right pricing and a well placed offering, Lodgy can make it tough for Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova and might as well compete against Maruti’s Ertiga!

Other manufacturers are also considering entering this segment too. Nissan recently launched Evalia and Chevrolet’s upcoming MPV, Enjoy has already been caught numerous times on the roads. Force Motor is also testing a Viano based MPV.

Other than tasting tremendous success with the rugged Duster, Renault might also enter the ‘volume-driven’ entry level small car segment considering that their small car, Modus has been caught testing in India a couple of times. Renault, for sure, is going aggressive and with Lodgy they would be mainly targeting Maruti’s Ertiga.
