Renault XBA Small Car Spied Up-Close; Launch This Year

Renault’s upcoming small car codenamed as XBA has been seen again, this time in some close-up spyshots. The car, based on the Common Module Family (CMF) platform, will be sharing its underpinnings with the Datsun Redi Go, the concept which was showcased at the Auto Expo last year.

Based on these spy shot by a Motoroids reader, we can clearly see that the single barrel head lamp console has integrated side indicators with chrome outlines. The slightly tall boy car will get a single windscreen wiper. The rear end of the car, though completely covered with camouflage, gets a bulkier a**.

At the heart of the car will be an all-new 800cc three pot mill being developed by Renault. It is also expected to get an automated Manual Transmission gearbox, which will give it more arsenal to target its key rival, the Alto K10. The interiors show a traditional layout with rectangular air con vents. The gear lever, which seems to have some hints from Duster, is in its traditional position and not integrated into the dashboard like the Datsun Go.

Renault is expected to launch XBA (with a proper commercial name) later this year, may be around the festive season to get the initial sales push, which they need so badly!
