Render: Hyundai’s India Bound Compact SUV is Here; EcoSport/Duster Beware!

It was only yesterday that we had reported about the spottings of the upcoming Compact SUV from Hyundai’s stable. It has been undergoing test runs in South Korea, and even under the disguise the resemblance to Kia Motors’ products is obvious.

Today, we have a new speculative rendering of the mini-SUV by Brazilian monthly mag Auto Esporte, claimed to have been based on insider inputs.

The render shows a signature Hyundai hexagonal grille, interspersed with chrome bars. The headlamps, somewhat flared up, do have a semblance to some other Hyundai products. There appears to be the splattering of a shiny material, though not probably chrome, on the cladding beneath the bonnet. The front portion borders on the very last vestiges of beefiness, without crossing over to savagery.

Cometh the profile, we have a flat roofline that intends to create the illusion of a hunched-down stance along with the rising windowline. The wheels look massive, as if the vehicle is squatting on muscular haunches. There hasn’t been much focus on wheel arches, though. Just a curved bodyline crease near the rear wheel attempts to set the character.

There is a wraparound rear windscreen, identical to that on the rear of EcoSport. A thick C-pillar precedes and we agree that the car doesn’t need a spare-wheel mount to get that rugged look. It is muscular indeed, its sculpting screams that on its own!!

Information about the powerplants still shrouded in mystery, but it isn’t far-fetched to expect a mix of new and existing petrol and diesel engines to be on the table.

Hyundai India has announced the launch of four new products within the next two years in India which include an MPV and a compact SUV. The compact SUVs are a hot-favorite among the masses right now and with the oncoming of newer players this will be one segment to watch out for.

So are the honchos at Ford & Renault worried?
