REVEALED: Changes New Sumo Grande Facelift Will Come With; Launch Soon

It is very well known now that Tata is busy revamping their complete lineup and has very aggressive plans to make a comeback in the market. They are calling this change and comprehensive makeover as HORIZONEXT!

We already have a few products launched under HORIZONEXT but majority of them are under test. One of them is the upcoming Tata Sumo Grande facelift. What you see on this page are exclusive spyshots of the upcoming MUV which we shared a while back.

Now, Cartoq.com reports new details and changes the upcoming Grande facelift will adorn.

Call it (only) GRANDE: Thankfully, sense has prevailed and Tata now intends to dump the ‘Sumo’ brand name and the new MUV will be called by the name ‘GRANDE’.

Reduced Weight: One of the biggest issues Grande suffers from is its heavenly kerb weight of a whooping 1940kgs. In comparison, Bolero tips the scale at 1615kgs. This >300kg weight difference is huge when we talk about performance. Even the Mahindra Xylo weighs 1830kgs, over 100kgs lesser! This deficit is what Tata intends to bandage and the new Grande will be reportedly significantly lighter.

Better Performance and Fuel Efficiency: Even if Tata manages to reduce the weight of Grande, it will result in obvious betterments to its performance and fuel efficiency. Apart from that, the engine is also expected to go through minor tweaks to help the MUVs overall efficiency.

Improved Clutch and Steering: Turning radius of the new Grande will be lesser and the overall feel is expected to be worked upon. Alongwith, it will also come with new clutch set for enhanced life.

New Grande Price

Tata Grande will be propelled by the same 2.2L DICOR engine which produces 120PS of power and 250Nm of torque. We have no clue what impact will these betterments have on the final price of the MUV. Currently, Grande starts at Rs 7.92 Lakh for the BS4 LX variant and Rs 7.51 Lakh for the BS3 EX variant ex-showroom Delhi.

Frankly speaking Tata doesnt have much room to play with. It is already not an impressive seller and any increase in price will not be good initial signs.
