Its a lot happening at Chevrolet’s camp for sure. We all know that Chevrolet has as many as 6 products lined up for the forthcoming months. Out of these, Cruze and Captiva have been launched but still this leaves us with 4 products still in queue. However, there is a new twist to this tale now.
Motor Vikatan has just exposed a few spy pics of Chevrolet Beat ‘under wraps’. This means that Chevrolet is planning to revamp their B-segment hatch and launch it in the market. From the pics, the front is hidden and we expect this would mostly be a cosmetic job with a few modified bits like the front grille, bumper, headlamps etc.
It would be interesting to see if Chevrolet plans to do any mechanical or engine related changes to Beat. In its current 1.2L petrol and 1.0L diesel forms, Beat perfectly fills the entry level B-Segment stylish hatch. The only thing that Chevrolet might think of bettering is adding a little ‘zing’ to its petrol motor which feels a little coarse to drive.
As it is we are a little surprised with this news of Sail hatch’s possibility of getting the 1.4L petrol motor in place of the expected 1.2L from Beat. This brings us to the question whether Chevrolet is trying to do many things at the same time and all too soon? Come on lets settle down with your scheduled new products then try to revamp the existing line up. They would need to be very cautious in placing Sail and Beat since it is a highly competitive segment and a little mistake can mean doom for Sail hatch.
