Mahindra has officially opened bookings of its new Scorpio facelift. The first three days ie till 17th the bookings are open exclusively for existing Scorpio owners, after which other customers can also pre-book their SUV. Booking amount is Rs 20,000.
Launch date has also been confirmed and its 25th of September. We have already talked about what’s new in this comprehensively updated new Scorpio facelift. Call it confidence of the company in the brand, with which they are taking bookings from customers without even showing the SUV. Yes, there has not been a single pic where the Scorpio has been snapped or showcased completely.
The new Scorpio will retain the 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine that puts out 120 bhp and 290 Nm torque. The gearbox and chassis are all-new and so are most of the components on the inside like the steering wheel, instrument cluster, etc. The track width has been increased while the height has been lowered and from the looks of it, a lot of body panels are also new. As you can see in the teaser pic, we have some real interesting eyebrow-like DRLs.
It’s rumored that Mahindra would be charging a premium of about Rs 25,000 to 30,000 for the new Scorpio over the outgoing model, which in turn is available right now at discounts of over Rs 50,000, which includes cash discounts, exchange bonus and other benefits.
Dealers would want to make space for the new model in their showrooms and you may use the fact to your advantage by haggling as much as possible to give you more discounts. If you’ve always fancied the Scorpio, this might just be the right chance to acquire one. If not, you can wait for the official unveiling of the new SUV!
