The second largest car manufacturer Hyundai India has completed a manufacturing milestone of producing 5 million cars in India. The memorable unit was a Grand i10 from their manufacturing line in Irrungattukottai, near Chennai.

Speaking on celebrations to mark the occasion Mr. B.S. Seo, MD and CEO, HMIL said,

“The 5 Million Car Roll-Out is an important milestone and a symbol of Hyundai’s long-term commitment to the Indian market. As we reach this significant landmark, I would thank our valuable customers, founding partners, employees, dealers and suppliers for their support and commitment. We will continue to focus our efforts in the Indian automobile industry through investments and world-class products.”

At the celebrations attended by Bollywood Badshah Shahrukh Khan a program to plant 1 million trees as part of ‘Go Green’ Initiative was also announced.

The pedigree of the manufacturer in India has been upped since Hyundai’s entry in India in 1998. Making India their export hub, HMIL manufacturing ratio of domestic units to export units is presently at 60:40. The high export ratio has helped the manufacturer maintain price in the face of sluggish market and unstable Rupee in international market.

India’s largest car exporter has a 46% share in the Indian car export segment. With a present investment of USD 2.7 billion and production capacity of 6.8 lakh cars in the Indian market, HMIL has been successful making a turnover of USD 5 billion.

We congratulate Hyundai for their achievement and hope they continue serving us with many more attractive and technically sound products in the times to come.
