Skoda Confirms New Five Door Hatch Based on European Rapid

Skoda Auto launched the Rapid in Europe lately. Now, the Skoda family is set get a new member! Mr. Jürgen Stackmann, Sales & Marketing Manager, Skoda Auto confirmed AutoCar that a conventional looking Five Door Hatchback will soon be launched. This hatch was previously previewed by the Vision D Concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Mr. Stackmann said that the new car will be notch-back styled sedan whose tailgate lifts together with the rear window. The new car will sport a “Golf-like rear end”, he said. However, he also confirmed that the upcoming car is not exactly the same as the Vision D Concept, as he said “It’s not that car”. Clarifying the reason behind not having a three-door model, he said that only a few numbers of European buyers opt for the three Door body style so developing the same won’t be beneficial.

Does this mean this car would replace the Fabia?
