BMW has been on the top of the sales charts when it comes to the luxury car market. Model by model they are facelifting their existing variants.
And next in line is the new BMW X5 which is an altogether a new vehicle
Carscoop has published these absolutely clear spyshots of the upcoming 2014 X5 which would rival its chief nemesis Audi Q7 . BMW keeps on decreasing the camouflage around their cars when the launch nears and the spyshots clearly suggests an impending launch. We expect it to happen at Frankfurt Auto show but we would not be surprised if it happens before that.
From what can be made out of the car from the spyshots, it will have a sharper and a more protruding nose than the outgoing model which would be somewhat in sync with the recently launched 3-series. The kidney bean grille will be more upright giving that in the face look. The rear reveals their restyled tail lamps with the side profile remaining somewhat similar to the current model.
The main changes come under the skin of the car and the major change is the all new “X for All ” platform which shall be shared with the 5 series and the next generation X6. The new chassis coupled with usage of lighter and stronger materials will reduce the weight of the car by over 330 pounds and increase the fuel efficiency to a large extent. At the same time, the Carbon-dioxide emission of the car will be going down considerably.
BMW is also expected to bring a V8 engined M series badged X5 sedan within a couple of years. India is one of the fastest growing automobile market and BMW is one of the key players in the luxury segment. Expect an Indian launch within a few months after the global launch as India might be one of the first wave countries to get the car. Audi Q7, you better watch out!
