SPIED: First Ever Spyshots of 2013 Mercedes GL 350 on Indian Soil; Coming This Year

Mercedes has lined up a host of products for the Indian sub-continent. Once the largest luxury car maker in India has been pushed to the third spot by its German counterparts Audi and BMW.

To face the onslaught, Mercedes will be bringing their smallest and most affordable A-Class pretty soon to India, exclusive and clear spyshots of which we have already shared with you a few days back. In another development, Autocar has published first spyshots of new Mercedes GL-Class that was caught testing in India.

Codenamed as X166, the test mule caught here is the GL 350 BlueTEC diesel version and similar to the A-Class mule thats running across the streets of Pune, the mass’y front bumper and additional trims hint at the AMG variant of the car. This GL 350 BlueTEC gets a 3.0L common rail turbo diesel engine which pumps out 255bhp of power and ground breaking 620Nm of torque which is coupled with a 7-speed Automatic gearbox.

Autocar also reveals that this GL 350 will be launched by Mercedes soon in India and will be imported as completely built units (CBU) initially. After a while looking at the response Mercedes has plans to assemble this GL class in India importing SKD (Semi Knocked Down Units) kits from USA which might happen towards the end of this year.
