This has been one area we all are caught dumbstruck! Volkswagen Up! has been caught testing in India a lot of times and we have published as many as 3 exclusive articles on the mini hatchback.
However, amidst all the sightings, Volkswagen India has been in denial mode and is saying that Up! is not coming to India, which we do not believe completely. These are the latest pics of a test mule we caught in Pune. This was the regular 4 door version with some data-logging instrument placed at the dashboard.
The car was shod with wider tyres with interesting alloy wheels. The car looked back-heavy with a possibility that Volkswagen might be testing its suspension for India-type roads. And if you can make out that lower body hit in the above pic, it makes it clearer that the car must be struggling to keep UP! on Indian roads.
Volkswagen Up! is a cute looking small car which is powered by a 1 Liter 3 cylinder (yes..again 3 cylinder) petrol engine which churns out 60PS and 75PS in two different tunings of the same mill. If it indeed makes its way into India, it will compete against WagonR and other small hatchbacks.
