SPIED: Nissan Caught Testing Low-Cost Micra; Coming This March

Back in July last year, this news of Nissan working on a low cost variant of their small hatch Micra erupted and here we have the running test mule of the same.

Published by AutoCar, this test mule was caught on the outskirts of Chennai and has a few hidden patches revealing the areas that might get the change. The price cut variant of Micra is expected to get a new tail lamp cluster, integrated single piece headrests along with lower cost interiors.

This price slashed variant of Micra might also come devoid of some features of the current Micra. The driver side airbag which is standard on current Micra might not find its way on the new cheaper variant along with steering tilt adjust, digital clock etc.

Codenamed as G02A, this cheaper Micra is expected to be launched by March and would get price reduction of as much as Rs 70,000 to bring to closer to the Hyundai i10 and Honda Brio. Through this, Nissan wants to play the smart game of garnering a share of the lower B segment by a B2 segment hatch. How will it impact the sales of the premium Micra remains to be seen, though!
