There were a few reports towards the end of last year that Renault is planning to introduce a smaller (than Pulse) hatch in India.
They already have a super successful product in the form of Duster, however, none of its other cars can really be tagged as market changers! Though Duster is enjoying a free run this time, it is expected to face the heat with the upcoming competition in the form of EcoSport and few others.
Hence, Renault needs more volume churning products to keep their sales ticking. What better car than this incredibly spacious Modus then! Recently spotted in Chennai and shared by Senna4Ever, a Team-Bhp member, Modus appears to be a car that boasts of the practicality factor.
It is not a looker for sure but many huge sellers in India are not, then! Modus, internationally gets a myriad of petrol and diesel engines including the 1.5L dCI. These are not the first spottings of Modus in India. It has been caught with hidden badges earlier as well but it was said that the car is under some international tests.
We are still unsure, if the quoted story is true or Renault does have some ulterior intentions behind its testing of Modus in India. However, with good interior space, solid build quality credentials, Modus might make good sense for Renault in India.
