SPIED: Scorpio Facelift Comes to Pictures Again; Caught Rear Camouflaged Again

That Mahindra is preparing a facelift of its reliable seller Scorpio is very well known. It has been caught testing many a times before, sometimes with only a frontal camouflage and a few times with a rear camouflage as well.

But what has remained constant are the camouflaged interiors (obviously apart from the front), which, in all probability, is going through a much-needed comprehensive makeover. The last time it was caught, it was wearing Xylo’s bumpers for some reasons best known to Mahindra for now.

In a new set of spyshots, coming from Chennai via anything-on-wheels, the under test Scorpio, codenamed as W105, is caught with a rear camouflage as well. The test mule is carrying some pipes attached to the exhaust, signalling that this car is being possibly tested for some emission related stuff.

Interestingly, as has been Mahindra’s habit of fooling the spies, this Scorpio FL has always been caught with round dummy headlamps and the final product is expected to be different.

Though, the facelifted Scorpio will carry the same 2.2L diesel engine, we expect a fair bit of tinkerings to the driveability and efficiency of the SUV. This facelift is expected to be launched in June 2014 which will be followed by an all-new Scorpio sometime in 2017-18.

Interestingly, Tata is also testing a more powerful 400Nm Safari Storme, which we have snapped recently. Competition is getting tougher in this segment and we only see better products coming our way – this facelifted Mahindra Scorpio appears to be one!
