SPIED: Suzuki WagonR Stingray Caught During a Photoshoot; Launching Soon

So Maruti Suzuki is playing its cards. It was known since the last couple of months that Maruti is planning to bring their sharper, smarter looking WagonR cousin to India – the WagonR Stingray! And now we have the first sneaking bit from India.

Caught and shared at Carsizzler.com, this is the first spyshot of WagonR Stingray from India. Considering the area and the setup of the pic, it is clearly a hint of the fact that Maruti is preparing the studio shots and/or brochure pics of the car which will be used for promotion in India.

The car caught is the same red colored Stingray which appears to be the flagship color for the car.

What is WagonR Stingray?

So, all of you who are looking at the screen without a hint of what is being talked about, here is a quick refresher. WagonR Stingray is nothing but a more premium looking and a more striking version of WagonR which was first introduced in 2007. It was launched with a few updated features in Japan last year and Maruti Suzuki feels that Stingray can catapult falling sales of WagonR in India and hence it will be sold here along with the WagonR.

In terms of its engine, it gets a small 660cc motor in Japan, however, in India we can safely expect the same 1.0L K-series petrol engine to make way. We also push Maruti to consider adding the 1.2L K-Series in (at least) one of the topmost variants. We can also expect CNG and/or LPG variants of the car in line with WagonR. Since, currently Maruti doesn’t have a small diesel engine, Stingray will give it a pass.

WagonR Stingray Price

As we have talked earlier, WagonR Stingray will sit over the current WagonR and will come at a premium. Maruti will want to sandwich it between the WagonR & Ritz/Swift Petrol and hence we expect it to be priced between Rs 3.7 Lakh to Rs 4.7 Lakh ex-showroom Delhi.

So, will you buy this Stingray over the regular boxy WagonR…?
