Maruti Suzuki is slowly becoming safety conscious. They first did it with their mid-sized sedan Ciaz, then the WagonR and now dual front airbags and ABS have been introduced on all the variants of the Swift hatchback and compact sedan Dzire as an optional extra! This means that if you care for yourself and your family you just need to spend a few more greenies and still buy your preferred variant and be relatively safe! You need not go all the way uptil the top ZXi/ZDi & VDi trims to cover yourself under the safety bouquet!
Both the Dzire and Swift have maintained an average sales of over 17,000 units per month in the last financial year. In fact the Dzire has, for a couple of times, even emerged as the largest selling car in the country, over leaping their own entry level hatch, the Alto.

The price difference between the standard models (without airbags and ABS) and the safety equipped Optional ones is less than Rs 20,000 and there is no reason really why you should be opting for the non (O) trims. &

Maruti is offering both the variants and has thrown the dice to the public. It is really upto us now what to make out of it! If we, despite having the option in place (at a very nominal price), continue to go for the standard trims then even God may not be in a position to save us… and this is just basic safety…
