After being caught numerous times Tata’s Ultra trucks have finally been launched in India. Tata Motors has launched two new trucks from the Ultra series which include Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicles (ILCV).

The Ultra which have earlier been used to make Starline Ultra buses, gave birth to these two new trucks, the Ultra 912 and the Ultra 812, prices of which start at Rs 10.76 Lakhs and Rs 10.11 Lakhs respectively (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

Tata Ultra 912 & 812 Features:

  • These trucks boast of an enhanced power steering system with drooping characteristics enabling vehicle stability at higher speeds.
  • They also have a comfortable seating space for three

These Ultra trucks come with wide payload capacities ranging from 5 to 15 tonnes and are powered by Tata’s CRDI diesel engine which develops 125PS of peak power and 400Nm of maximum toque.

In terms of interiors Tata has introduced a new generation instrument cluster which looks more stylish than older Tata trucks. It also has sufficient storage capacity and features like dash-mounted gear lever, air conditioner, lockable glove-box, bottle holders, and mobile charging point. Ultra trucks also come with a 45 degrees hydraulically tiltable cabin.

The Ultra 912 and 812 trucks come in different body lengths of 14, 17 and 20 feet. More options in shorter and longer decks will be introduced soon. They are available in four colour options:

  • Sardinia Red
  • Arctic White
  • Arizona Blue
  • Yellow

As you can notice, we do not associate such brighter colors on commercial vehicles and from what we have seen, these Ultra trucks do carry them with grace.

Tata’s Ultra 912 and 812 are the first two trucks from the Ultra series which will be available throughout the country at all authorized Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle dealerships. There will be more coming soon.
