Spied: Same Tata Zest Test Mule Gets Spotted Multiple Times in Bangalore

And once again Tata Zest, the company’s soon to be launched compact sedan, was seen wedged in the Bangalore traffic by Team-BHP members. These frequent spyshots do clear the point that we made a few days back.

Tata is busy performing extensive testing on both Bolt and Zest and they have a lot of test mules running around traversing the length and breadth of the country, in turn covering lakhs of test kms each.

The Zest and the Bolt are meant to be the first of the cars which the company plans to bring out in the next few years in a bid to bring the fortunes back to the ailing company.

Even though a front view of the car could not be clicked in full but it appears that this mule is running with the regular grille which Tata showcased while unveiling the car. It must be noted that in its earlier spottings, Zest was spotted with a different and smarter grille. This may just be to create a slight little differentiation between two variants or AMT/MT gearboxes.

This mule spied at multiple places in Bangalore’s dense traffic suggests that Tata is testing it in bumper to bumper traffic and one of the spotting reports that there were 5 occupants inside hinting at the possibility of the company checking the performance when fully loaded.

Since Tata is targeting the urban youth, Zest can be expected to be doing a lot of time in city traffic. The fact that the Zest will have the new 1.2L 85PS/140Nm Revotron petrol engine and the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) on the 1.3L Multijet for the first time, they need to be extra cautious!

With Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Maruti Suzuki Dzire as its opponents and the prospect of facing Volkswagen and Nissan which are expected to join the bandwagon soon, Tata has a lot of catching up to do. The sporty looks with the AMT on diesel might just become the deal clincher for Tata.

The compact sedan segment has really been very successful in India with customers making a beeline for these asymmetrical gas burners, how interested are you in the Zest then?
