Tata’s Upcoming Premium SUVs Q501/Q502 Speculative Render Pics; We Like!

Tata Motors has understood that, if they want to return to the game, they need to have products in the utility vehicle segment and tons of them! And that is the reason they are working on at least 7 to 8 new vehicles to slug it out against the competition (here is the list). The Q501 (codename) will be a premium SUV from the company’s stable which will be developed in association with their subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover. Although there have been no sightings of the SUV yet but it is understood is that, along with the bigger 7-seater version Q502, it will be launched sometime in 2017.

An automotive rendering expert, Theophilus Chin has released a few representations of how the upcoming SUVs may end up looking.

Tata Q501 front rendering

Mating the Hexa concept showcased at the Geneva Motor Show, with the hugely successful Discovery Sport, he has given SUV characteristics to the crossover. These are obviously speculative and imaginary pics but Tata has also hinted that their future utility products will carry a similar design language (of the Hexa Concept).

Tata Q501 side rendering

The images show off a bigger product than the Hexa, with ample dose of black body cladding and chrome. The front looks a little larger than the concept model while the side profile has a lot of Discovery Sport in it. Although the Q501 and Q502 will not be carrying the premiumness of the Land Rover but we expect them to be spot on in terms of quality and finish.

Aimed at the D1 SUV segment, Tata expects to sell 50,000 units annually. A 2.0 litre Multijet engine sourced from Fiat is expected to power both the cars but there has been no official confirmation yet. A little while back we have analyzed the possible pricing and placement of these upcoming SUVs, you can check here
