Online portals are abuzz with sudden spurt of spyshots of the new Grand i10 sedan which Hyundai has been talking about for a while now. Here are a few new ones courtesy Powerdrift.
While the car has been caught testing for a few times earlier, one of the spyshots here snaps the front for the first time, in turn revealing the similarity in design with the Grand i10. It is understood that Grand i10 sedan will almost be the similar car like Grand i10 with an extended boot.
It will still be a sub 4 meter car and is Hyundai’s competition to Honda Amaze and Maruti Dzire. Similarly, the interiors and other parts will also be shared to help in economies of scale. What is expected to be different is the possibility of the inclusion of the bigger 1.4L CRDI diesel engine from the i20. If not, that it will carry the same 1.1L U2 diesel engine and will turn out to be segment’s weakest car. However, it will definitely carry some real interesting fuel efficiency figures.
The 1.2L Kappa2 petrol engine will be carried over for sure. It is also expected to carry the 4-speed automatic option on the petrol motor apart from the 5-speed manual gearboxes both the petrol and diesel will get.
Hyundai will launch the Grand i10 sedan in India on the 4th of February and we expect it to be a real value for money deal. What we wish is that Hyundai also considers an automatic box on the diesel.
In terms of its name, we are unsure if Hyundai will use ‘Accent’ brand or will bank on the ‘i’ branding for this car.
