VW Hikes Prices of Polo and Vento; Adds New Features to Compensate

The input costs are rising and so is the list of the features that a customer seeks from his car. This is pushing the carmakers resort to increasing the prices of their cars. And the latest company to do it, is Volkswagen!

VW has increased the prices of its mass market offerings in India, the Polo and the Vento which are the cars which have managed to turn the fortunes of the company on their head. The price increase for 2013 models is 2.27 percent and has already been brought into effect. The increase is on the ex-showroom prices which would translate into an increase of somewhere around 3 percent or more by the time the cars hit the roads which equates to more that 20,000 on a car of 7 Lakh OTR.

But with the price increase, you get an added list of features for the cars as well. The Vento Highline gets an upgraded music system and it now comes with Aux-In and SD card support. But it is the Polo which gets more worthy features. Polo Highline gets automatic climate control and Climatronic in VDub speak. The cars remain bog similar to the 2012 models when seen on the mechanical frontier.

Upcoming Variants of Polo and Vento

Volkswagen is working on a slew of variants for both Vento and Polo. Here is what you can wait for:

Its the latter two Polo’s which we are very eagerly waiting for, specially the 1.2 TSI which would be a hoot to drive around. The only complaint we have is that these cars make too much of noise. The petrol ones sound like diesels and the diesels sound like mini-tractors. We hope VW works on that frontier as well before launching these newer variants.
