One more feather on the crown of Wagon-R and Swift! The Swift and WagonR are to be awarded I-Mark 2012 by India Design Council. This is the very first edition of India Design Mark and these two cars are the first ones to get this award. The India Design Council consists of finest people from academic, design and industry organisation. It is also affiliated with Ministry of Commerce & Industry of India.
This programme was organised with cooperation of Japan Institute of Design Promotion who organises Japan’s Good Design Award, G-mark. All the preparation for this event began back in 2010. The winners were chosen by maintaining standards of Japanese equivalent.
As a reaction, Mr. IV Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Maruti Suzuki said: “The India Design Mark certificate to Wagon R and Swift demonstrates high design capabilities of the design teams of Maruti Suzuki India and Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan. Stepping up our efforts, Maruti Suzuki designers are now working on designing global models along with their Japanese counterparts, as part of SMC’s global design team”.
