Would the New Renault Diwali Car be Named ‘Future’?

At the occasion of the launch of Duster in Kerala market today, Renault MD, Marc Nassif revealed a lot about company’s future plans.

Renault Duster

Renault currently has 4 products in its Indian lineup – Pulse hatch, Duster Compact-SUV, Fluence sedan and premium Koleos. According to plans they have another mid-sized sedan linedup for Diwali launch and all the probabilities hint at a rebadged Nissan Sunny. Now, what would Renault name it had been a question and there were speculations that it could be called as ‘Scala’ but there is a new name coming up, ‘Future’. Future would come with a few nip tucks altered from current Nissan Sunny similar to Pulse and Micra.

Renault also plans to sell at least 30,000 cars this year up from 1500 cars they managed to sell last year. Along with this Renault is also planning to launch smaller cars under 4.5 lakhs.

Indian right-hand drive Duster is made at Renault’s Chennai plant and the company has plans to start exporting it to UK market by this year end. The company also plans to increase localisation on Duster to 80% from current 60%. It also plans to take its dealership count from the current 55 to 100 by this year end.

Renault has launched the Duster at a price of 7.19 Lakh in India. Check out the comprehensive coverage and on-road price of Duster here.
