XA-Alpha Launch Confirmed for This Financial Year

Maruti unveiled a fantastic looking compact SUV concept at the 2012 Auto Expo which they called XA-Alpha. Ever since then it has been a real long wait for the car to get production ready. But now after we have seen a lot of spy pics of the car, it is finally getting ready for our market, although in a significantly different and subdued form!

Maruti Suzuki’s executive director of Marketing and Sales, RS Kalsi has told Economic Times, that they will launch the XA-Alpha based compact SUV within this financial year of 2016. This financial year means anytime from now till March 2016 but we believe it will come toward the end of the FY, closer to March next year since the car is still far from being production ready!

Speculative reports suggest that YBA, which is the internal codename, will be commercially called as Vitara Brezza! It will be powered by the same 1.3 liter DDIS engine which may be offered in both the 75 PS and 90 PS tunes. There are also expectations that Maruti may plonk a new 1.0 liter under-works K10 C turbocharged petrol engine on the car. Else, they always have the option of the K12 petrol motor from Swift.

According to our sources, YBA is expected to be lighter and more fuel efficient than EcoSport, its chief nemesis.
