S101 (XUV100) Spotted Uncamouflaged at Promo Shoot; Cheapest Mahindra Looks Interesting

Mahindra’s upcoming sub 4 metre micro SUV S101 has been spotted for the first time revealing its body. Snapped by an IndianAutosBlog reader the car is still partially hidden from the front not allowing us to see its face.

Looking at all those strapped cameras and crew, the S101, which is expected to be called as XUV100, is out for some initial promo shoots. We see a raised car-like side profile and Beat styled rear door handles with chrome outlines. There is a prominent curve which extends from the rear door, passes over the tail lamp and ends at the tail gate.

Mahindra has also added subtle wheel arches which are covered in black plastic cladding. This extends to all the lower portions of the car, just like the XUV500, to lend it some muscle. The roof gets black roof rails and there is a prominent roof mounted spoiler. This, expected to be the top end trim, also gets alloy wheels which look real good.

The XUV100, if it will be called so, is all set to be launched in the third week of January, just ahead of the Auto Expo. It will not just be competitively priced but it will surely be the cheapest Mahindra car available in the lineup. S101 will also be getting a new 1.2 litre three pot petrol engine while the 1.5 liter diesel is expected to be borrowed from the TUV 300.

XUV100 will also be the second front-wheel drive SUV in the lineup and will also get an AMT gearbox. Mahindra is expected to pitch it against the likes of established hatchbacks like the Maruti WagonR and Hyundai i10 and cash in on its crossover styled body proportions and practicality to gain mileage.
