Mahindra-SsangYong unveiled at the Expo 2 new important vehicles from the SsangYong stables; namely, the Rodius MPV and LIV-1 Concept. The partnership has also showcased the SUV Rexton with a new 2.0L e-XDi Active diesel engine.
Mahindra has already hinted earlier that they are considering Rodius MPV for India and an Auto Expo premier takes us a step closer to the large MPV.
Rodius is a massive MPV and has a cabin designed to carry as many as 11 people and their luggage in comfort. The top of the range Rodius 4×4, available in international markets, combines all this space of an MPV with decent off-road capability. The partnership likes to call the Rodius a new-generation APV (All Purpose Vehicle). However, the Indian version showcased was a 2WD (2 Wheel Drive) and we expect it to make it to India.
Rodius comes with Ssangyong’s 2.0L turbocharged e-XDi200 diesel engine similar to the one in the updated Rexton. The output figures are identical and the engine is designed to provide handy low-end grunt on all kind of surface.
The Rodius also has a long feature list to attract buyers towards it:
The previous gen Rodius was often touted to be one of the ugliest vehicle the world has seen, however, in its new avatar, Rodius does look fairly decent. It will be the first time we will see a proper 11-seat MPV in India and the specs and features look promising. Mahindra just need to get the price right, we assume!
