160PS Fiat 595 Competizione Abarth Launch in July [Speculation]

We will treat every upcoming launch report on Fiat with a lot of speculative ears since the company itself has not been able to keep up with the official announcements and promises it had made so far. We still wonder where is the Linea 1.6L Multijet promised for 2014 back in Dec 2012!

Nonetheless, Overdrive.in claims that Fiat India has plans to go all guns blazing with new and more importantly ‘interesting’ product launches for the rest of the year. The onslaught, they say, will begin with the 595 Competizion Abarth which is expected to be launched as early as July 2015.

The 595 produces a fantastic 160 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque from its 1.4 liter T-JET petrol motor which is coupled with a fixed-geometry turbocharger. It comes mated to a 5-speed Automated Manual transmission, which Overdrive reports is quirky and slow-shifting and doesn’t do justice to the car’s potential. There is a hope that Fiat may (should) offer a manual as well.

The 595 Competizione is the performance version of the Fiat 500 and was showcased first at the Auto Expo in February last year. Though we have never been fans of the 500’s design, we just love the 1.4L T-jet and with a power to weight ratio of 155 PS/tonne, the 595 should be a hoot to drive! Overdrive claims a 0 to 100 kmph in 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 197 kmph!

Since the 595 Abarth Competizione will be a CBU (Completely Built Unit), expect an astronomical price tag around Rs 30 Lacs for this Fiat!
