Although Honda Cars India Ltd. unveiled the all-new 4th Generation Honda City at a World Premiere event in Delhi a couple of days back, Honda dealers from across the country have been taking pre-orders since earlier this month.
And at the event, the company announced that the bookings are on. The new City is likely to be available in six to eight variants with both the petrol and diesel engine options. Exact prices and other details are awaited but one can advance book the new City, diesel or petrol with a down payment of Rs. 50,000.
The fact that Honda chose India as a launching pad for its next generation City model tells about the enthusiasm the Indian customers have shown to the 3 previous generation models of this particular car.
The all new Honda City has the 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine which is the same as the one in entry-level sedan, the Honda Amaze. The car and the engine has been well received in the country. The 1.5L 4 cylinder DOHC i-DTEC diesel engine has been designed specifically for India and is based on the Honda’s ‘Earth Dreams Technology’.
The petrol driven City has an improved 1.5L 4 cylinder SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine. Exact specifications of these engines have not been revealed. Both the petrol and the diesel variants of the new City boasts a beautiful sporty design on the outside and has what Honda calls a ‘Layered Floating Cockpit’ maximizing ergonomics and imparting a smartphone like user friendliness. Honda also claims that the new version is more comfortable and fuel efficient than the outgoing model.
The City has always been a favourite among the buyers and Honda has until now sold over 4.3 lakh of this model across the country. The 4th generation City undoubtedly has all it takes, and more, to take the number game a couple of notches further. How many of you are booking one then?
