Hyundai India has launched the 2016 Elantra in India today. Currently in its 6th generation avatar, the executive sedan starts at an attractive price point of Rs 12.99 lakhs and goes up to 19.19 lakhs (both ex-showroom, Delhi). It gets several best in class features and has won several international awards.
Unveiled for the first time in Hyundai’s domestic market, in October last year, the car’s design language is the same Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 and will be locking horns against several established names as the Corolla Altis, Octavia and Cruze. It gets new HID head lamps, LED tail lights and a catchy hexagonal grille.
Powering the car is a new 2.0 litre petrol while the diesel is the same 1.6 litre mill. Transmission options include a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic gearbox.
- The 4 pot 1,999 cc Nu MPi engine produces 152 PS of power at 6,200 rpm and 192 Nm of torque. Fuel efficiency for the manual and automatic have been rated at 14.59 kmpl and 14.62 kmpl respectively.
- The 1.6 litre VGT CRDi mill churns out 128 PS of maximum power at 4,000 rpm and 260 Nm of torque peaking in the range of 1,900 to 2,750 rpm. In manual it churns out a best in class 22.54 kmpl while in the automatic it produces 18.23 kmpl.
One thing which we love is that Hyundai has retained the coupe-ish profile in the rear. Based on a revised version of the old car, it gets more premium interiors. It gets an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system and a set of 6 speakers with Surround Sound System by Arkamys. Other features include:
- Electric Sunroof
