Volvo India has launched the S60 sedan with a petrol engine in a press meet in Chennai. The car will be retailed at all Volvo showrooms across the country and it carries a price tag of Rs 42 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi. The event also saw the inauguration of the company’s new showroom in Chennai called Artemis Cars.
The new S60 features a 2.0 litre four cylinder petrol engine producing a maximum power output of a massive 310.2 PS and 400 Nm of peak torque. Mated with an 8 speed automatic transmission the car is capable of hitting the ton in 5.9 second and has a top speed of 230 kmph.
Goodies? Oh yes…you get a bagful of those. Electronic sunroof, active bending head lights, projectors, LED daytime running lights, TFT instrumentation console, electronically adjustable seats, 7 inch infotainment system, 18 inch alloys, you name it and you have it!
The S60 features the familiar city safety system which is active till speeds of 50 kmph. The system makes the car automatically brake if the driver fails to react in time when the vehicle in front slows down or stops – or if the car is approaching a stationary vehicle too fast. You also get side impact safety system and whiplash protection to save from rear collisions.
310 horses on tap at 42 odd lakhs sounds really luring. And yes Volvo also announced that they will be opening their next dealership in Kolkata.
