90 BHP Etios Liva With Bigger 1.5L Engine on the Way!

A few days back we reported about the launch of the ‘Special Edition’ of Toyota Etios Liva, TRD Sportivo. Now AutoCar India reveals that Toyota is set to give the Etios Liva a new engine!
Currently, Maruti Suzuki Swift is the topper among the premium hatch cars. Now, Toyota plans to take on Swift by placing the 1.5-Litre mill which is currently powering up the Etios Sedan, under the bonnet of the Liva. This 1.5-Litre Petrol engine produces 90 BHP of power with 132 Nm of torque for effortless city driving.

The Etios Liva 1.5 is expected to sport Sportivo‘s body kit, enhanced interior design and wider tyres. A more attractive looks blended with power, could grab the attention of the young buyers.

The Liva 1.5 won’t be priced anywhere near the existing Liva 1.2, as it’ll lose the benefit from a lower excise duty on small cars (applicable to cars with petrol engines below 1.2-litres). This 90 BHP Liva is expected to hit the roads some time in 2013.

Would this introduction of a more powerful Liva do any good to its image?
