Auto Expo : Ashok Leyland Showcases its Commercial Vehicles

Ashok Leyland has displayed the full range of next-generation commercial vehicles at the Expo. The vehicles range from 3.5 tons to 25 tons like Dost, STiLE, Partner, MiTR, BOSS and Captain.

The company is looking to service many new segments and markets with these new products. The Ashok Leyland and Nissan joint venture has indigenously developed some medium and heavy commercial vehicles of 7.5 ton GVW till 49 ton GUW.

The BOSS, an intermediate commercial vehicle, is equipped with 130 bhp common rail engine; and the higher LX version of the truck comes with clutch-less automated manual transmission and a factory-fitted AC unit in the cab. The refrigerated version of BOSS comes with an insulated container for transporting perishables.

The Dost now has a tipper version with less than 2.5 GVW. On display also is a completely customized STiLE people carrying MPV; a new school bus (LCV) version of MiTR; Partner truck with industry-first curtain slider on either side to improve operational efficiency; a refrigerated variant of BOSS; and Captain 2523 Tipper with indigenously designed, factory made cab.

The Captain 2523 comes equipped with high torque and fuel efficient H-series CRS engine and a 9-speed gearbox. The driveline of this tipper is coupled with hub-reduction technology in the rear axle for extra traction on difficult inclines. The 2523 also comes with state-of-the-art electrical and electronic architecture with self-diagnostic capability. The Captain series includes tippers, tractors and haulage vehicles from 16 tons to 49 tons.
