The new Audi A3 compact sport sedan was photographed at Juhu, Mumbai by our regular reader Kush Shah (many thanks) and shows the car wading through the evening rush hour.
The photographed A3 was the 1.8-liter petrol version on test. That would mean it’s equipped with something called the ‘turbo fuel stratified injection (TFSI, sounds regal, ain’t it?)’ petrol, which Audi claims, helps this sedan to go from 0-100 in about 7 seconds. The compact sedan is expected to be launched in the country as soon as next month.
The A3 brand of cars from Audi comprise of the photographed sedan, a convertible, hatchback and the high-performance S3. The A3 1.8-liter sedan is a front-wheel-drive model driven by the 170 bhp (172 ps) turbocharged petrol paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The trademark Quattro all-wheel-drive system can be had by picking the 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol capable of 220 bhp (223 ps). But we do not think Audi will launch this engine option here in India, at least not now!
The diesel A3 will come with the 2.0L TDI motor which churns out 150bhp of power and 340Nm of torque. A3 will be the cheapest sedan in Audi’s Indian lineup and we expect the price to start at around 23 Lakhs or thereabouts for the lesser variant ex-showroom Delhi.
