The German Luxury Car manufacturer, Audi announced a hike across the range available for sale in India. The biggest setback is for the Completely Built Units which are now 13 to 14 percent dearer. For models which are produced in India itself the hike is in the range of 3.4 to 3.7 percent.
Fully Built Units: 75% Excise Duty Zone
– Audi A7 Sportback
– Audi A8 L
– Audi RS5
As these cars fall in the category where the rise is maximum ie it attracts 75% Excise from the previous 60%, proportionate hike is also maximum. After the increase of around 13-14% Audi A7 Sportback starts from Rs 66,04,000 and the Audi RS5 now starts from Rs 85,95,000.
Large Cars – 27% Excise Duty Zone
– Audi A4
– Audi A6
– Audi Q5
With the approx 5 % increase in this category of cars, these models get dearer by 3.4 to 3.7 percent. Audi A4 now comes at Rs 30,60,000.
Despite this hefty increase, Audi India Head, Michael Perschke seems offbeat about the company’s growth for this year. He said, “Further to the increase in excise duty and customs duty on large cars in this year’s union budget, we have re-evaluated our pricing strategy in India and have increased the prices of all products. However, we are still confident of achieving our sales target of 7500-8000 cars at the end of 2012”
