Audi India on a Roll, Sales at an All-Time High; Year Target Achieved Ahead of Time

The German luxury car maker,  Audi has revealed their sales figures for the month of November, and the results are more than promising. At 805 units, they registered a whooping 89 percent increase in their November sales versus 425 units last year for the same month. It crossed the 8000 units sales targeted for the year, a complete month ahead of its schedule.

Audi India Head Michael Perschke said that in the January-November period the company sold 8,072 units, which is more than their initial target of selling 8,000 cars by the end of this year. He also stated that since they have achieved this a month before the year ends, they have now revised their sales target to minimum 8,600 cars this calendar year. And seeing a few bestsellers in its fleet, that does not seem to be much of a problem for the brand. Last year, Audi had sold 5117 units for the period of January to November.

All this is due to the highly successful cars under their brand. The A4 and A6 are being brought into the country as CKDs and have helped achieved success in the luxury sedan segment. It is also in the lead when it comes to the luxury SUVs with the flagship SUV Q7 carrying the torch. Much of the volumes are also attributed to the newly launched Q3 which would further boost the sales figure when it starts getting assembled through the CKD route.

Audi seeks to achieve the status of being the number 1 luxury car brand in India by 2015 , and seeing the way they are going ahead aggressively with the Indian market, it seems that it will achieve that target sooner than later. Audi is going to increase the prices of its products from January by 5 percent but along with that it is also going to increase the amount of localisation.

With their new assembly line facility at Aurangabad, they seek to achieve an annual production capacity of 9000-12000 units out of which almost 90 percent shall be for the Indian market.

The company has been quite aggressive in their pricing and engine options for the country. Despite the economic slowdown , the company is managing to achieve more than it even forecasts. It is only a matter of couple of years when we see those 4 circles leading the pack with the 3 star pointer and the Beemers in the rearview.

A couple of days back, facelifted 2013 Audi Q5 was spotted in Mumbai with a launched expected in early 2013.
