Indian luxury car market is set to boom at a rapid pace. Luxury car manufacturers are launching their entry level products to take ‘luxury’ a notch lower.
We already have the latest launches in the form of Mercedes A-Class and Volvo V40 Cross Country. These are all set to be joined by BMW’s 1-Series hatch and Audi’s entry level Q3 S. While BMW will launch the 1-Series on 3rd September, Audi wants to take an early leap by introducing the Audi Q3 S earlier.
According to Autocar, Audi India will launch the Q3 S on August 19. It seems apparent that Audi will try to price it as aggressively as possible and a sub 25 lakh price tag appears to be very much possible. And hence, also get ready to accept a lot of slashing of ‘luxury features’.
As a first, the Q3 S will be powered by the same 2.0L TDI diesel motor which will be detuned to produce 140bhp of power output and 320 Nm of torque (against 177bhp & 380Nm of the regular model). Q3 S will be a front wheel drive car and will come with a 6-speed manual transmission. Also expect omission of features like DRLs (day time running LEDs), electrically powered seats, rear view camera etc.
Despite all the omissions, Audi Q3 S will be fairly well loaded with standard features like 18 inch alloy wheels, climate control, cruise control, leather seats etc. It appears that Autocar has also taken a test drive of the car going by the pics they have shared. The set also includes an interior shot of the car featured below.
So, if you intend to buy a luxury car and have a budget of around 25 Lakhs, you will have some real cool options now which include hatchbacks, crossovers as well as SUVs; Rejoice!
