Auto Expo 2014 Venue Changed from Pragati Maidan to Greater Noida

We still have over a year to the 2014 Auto Expo, but here are some important updates from the Society of Indian Manufacturers (SIAM). Yesterday SIAM said that the time and venue of the 2014 Auto Expo has been changed which would go along with an altered date as well.

Unlike the tradition of kick-starting the event in the first week of January, the Auto Expo 2014 will be held between 6-12 February, 2014. The reason behind this change is the conflicting dates with the Detroit Auto Show.

The reason for the date change as given by the SIAM Director General Mr. Vishnu Mathur was that, “Lot of global CEOs who wanted to be here have said to us that they could not because of their engagement with the Detroit Auto Show. So we decided to shift our Auto Expo to February”.

As for the venue, Mr. Mathur said: “In the next Auto Expo, which will be held from February 6-12, we will be showing only vehicles and accessories at the India Expo Center and Mart  at Greater Noida.”

SIAM Deputy Director General, Mr. Sugato Sen said, “We will have 50,000 square metres of occupied space by exhibitors as compared to less than 40,000 square metre that we had this year’s Auto Expo”.

The reason behind shifting the venue as cited by Mr. Mathur was “In February 2014, it (Pragati Maidan) is not available and hence we had to move to Greater Noida”.

Considering the grand mismanagement of last year’s Auto Expo, we only hope things go better from now on. A bigger space along with a relatively secluded venue might help but the authorities have to really take matters of management seriously. On the positive front, we are very excited about the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo as we can’t wait to see a series of new launches, upcoming and concept cars from different manufacturers.
